MPs were encouraged this week not to be taken in by the hyperbole which surrounds whiplash claims, but think about how society would want to deal with genuinely injured people. The plea came from APIL vice president Brett Dixon as he gave evidence to a committee of MPs established to scrutinise the Prisons and Courts Bill. Brett gave evidence alongside James Dalton of the Association of British Insurers (ABI) and Rob Townend of Aviva. APIL, the ABI and Aviva agreed on the need to ban cold calls for personal injury claims and to extend the proposed ban on pre-medical offers to all claims.
