APIL is pointing out to regional newspaper readers that the insurance industry is responsible for the setting of premiums, not injured people.
A letter is being distributed for publication to counteract insurance industry rhetoric about the cost to motorists of the change in the discount rate. “Finally, insurers are being held to account. But rather than accept their responsibilities, these companies now suggest that people with catastrophic injuries should continue to struggle on inadequate compensation, or else all motorists must pay higher premiums. They should be ashamed of themselves,” it reads.
